Welcome to Small Publishing in a Big Universe. I am executive producer Stephen Radecki, sitting in for regular host Lisa Jacob for a special bonus episode of Small Publishing in a Big Universe. Live from the first annual San Jose Book Festival. We interviewed more than 20 authors and asked each of them to identify themselves, tell us what they wrote, and describe their experience at the first annual San Jose Book Festival Festival. So without further ado, let's go to the authors.
[00:00:36] Speaker B: I'm Russell Carroll. My genre is epic fantasy and so far I've had a great time at the San Jose Book Festival. Enjoyed meeting lots of great people and having a really good time. Awesome experience.
I am Shelley Adena. Shelley Adina Bates. Slash Adina Senf. And I write steampunk adventure and mystery and Amish romance and my experience here has been amazing.
My name is Josh Hancock. My genre is horror, suspense, thriller and I'm having a blast at the inaugural San Jose Book Festival. Lots of great people, great writers. I'm Rosemary Hayward. I write historical fiction set in England. This book festival's been great. It's been good traffic. Books have been flying off the table. My name is RK Sachdev. I write Romantic Suspension.
The book festival has been lovely. There's been a great crowd, a lot of great conversations being had here. I'm Patty Flores Reinhardt and I write historical fiction and so far it's been a great day. I've met a lot of neat people. I'm Tim Schooley and I write historical fiction and I've had a great time at the book festival. My name is Farima Barenji and I mainly write about history, mythology and mysticism. The experience here has been wonderful. I met so many amazing authors. DJ Sykes. I'm a multi genre author with alternate history and also science fiction. It's been great. We've been having lots of fun people that we're visiting and buying books and talking to readers. Hello, My name is L.M. stewart. I'm at the San Jose Book Festival. Great romance and it's been a wonderful day here. There's been so many people here and it's been great getting to meet and interact with readers, some of whom have read romance before, some of whom are new to it. So it's been a lot of fun. My name is Jennifer K. Morita and I'm the author of Ghosts of Waikiki. I write mysteries and I'm having a fabulous time at the first annual San Jose Book Festival. I'm Jude Berman and I write different kinds of books, including historical fiction, speculative Fiction, metaphysical fiction and more. I think this has been an amazing first year for this festival.
My name is Susan Kiyo Ito. I'm a memoirist and also working on a novel. My experience at the first San Jose Book Festival is that it's been so fun to be with other writers, writers in my own community, as well as other writers that I'm meeting for the first time and to see all these great things that we have in common. My name is Jason Mizer. My genres are psychological thrillers and comedy. This experience at the San Jose Book Festival has been quite so far. Hi, I'm CL Fors. I write science fiction and I'm having a great time at the book festivals and meeting a lot of really cool people. My name is Dottie Wilbur. I'm an MFA student at San Jose State. I'm working here with Read Magazine to spread awareness about our submissions and our previously published editions. And we've had a wonderful time promoting our work here and made a lot of connections, got a lot of people from our newsletters and sold a couple copies of our magazine. Hi, I'm Brookell French. I am a thriller and suspense author. I've had a fabulous time this year. I've met all sorts of amazing authors and readers. I'm Milia Bacasis. I write sci fi, fantasy, fairy tale retellings and horror for adult audiences. And my experience with the first ever San Jose Book Festival has been amazing. It's been a fantastic experience.
I'm Nick Webster. I am the author of the award winning Raft Memorandum crime series and I have another detective series called the By Night Series. I'm having a terrific time here at the San Jose Book Festival. My name is Debbie Laskar and I am a poet and a novelist. I am really loving the first annual book festival in San Jose.
My name is Rebecca Hunter. I write Wacky Royal romance and other things and I have loved this book festival. There's just been writers from all over coming in and just super curious about books. It's been great. My name is Judith Star.
I write Greek myth retellings and historical fantasy and it's been great. This is for our first annual festival. This has been very enjoyable. I'm Cheryl R. Hayes. I write urban fantasy and paranormal romance and my experience here at this first annual Sounds a book festival has been awesome. I've been meeting so many people, it's just been a blast. I'm Jennifer Scully. I also write as Jasmine Haynes. I do armchair travel, romance, erotic romance, billionaire romance, any kind of romance really. And it has just been a wonderful experience here with all of the people coming in to talk to us about our books. It's been great. I've loved being here.
